Especially in 938, Ngo Quyen defeated Northern invaders and regained freedom of Vietnam. From then till 1945, Vietnam went through many different dynasties ( Ngo dynasty, Dinh, Tien, Le, Ly, Tran, Ho, Hau, Le, Mac, Nguyen), they ended in 1945. Over 1000 years of gain freedom, Vietnam experienced 13 times of fighting against Northern and foreign invaders. Decadence and Prosperity of dynasties left several buildings, magnificent and superb palaces, particularly under Nguyen Dynasty ( 1802 – 1945). After handing over power to Vietnam Independence League by the 13th last emperor of Nguyen Dynasty, all palace systems, ramparts, tombs have been preserved till now, such as the citadel, tombs of Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, Tu Duc, Duc Duc, Dong Khanh and Khai Dinh, etc. From 1945 to 1975, Vietnam was devastated seriously by wars of American and French empires.
